How to Use Instagram Analytics

For businesses of all sizes, Instagram is a powerful social media platform. It is increasingly being used by brands as a means of connecting with customers and is widely used for successful influencer marketing.

It is beneficial to keep an eye on the most recent video formats for Instagram because there is currently a lot of buzz in social media, including shoppable posts and an emphasis on video creation. Therefore, it is worthwhile to invest some time in learning who you can reach on Instagram and the most efficient method for doing so.

So, how can you tell if your Instagram marketing plan is paying off? Analytics aids in this process. You will be able to improve your company's online presence by gaining more likes, followers, and useful data from Instagram's insights.

Let's take a look at Instagram analytics to find out how to get the most out of the platform so that you can create content that attracts and engages users.

How to Set up Instagram Analytics

Analytics viewing requires a Business or Creator account first. By selecting "Settings" and then "Account" from your profile picture, you can easily convert your personal account into one of these. Simply select "Switch to Professional Account" from the drop-down menu.

Instagram Insights Overview

Once you have access, to view account insights you just:

  • Go to your profile
  • Tap the Insights action button. You can also go to ‘Menu’ in the upper right corner, and tap Insights
  • Select metrics under ‘Overview’ or select content you’ve shared

What Metrics Can you Track on Instagram Analytics?

You must know what metrics are available to monitor and analyze your Instagram account and content. You should also consider which ones are most important to your company. Adjust these insights as needed based on the data you're looking for because they can all be viewed by date range.
You can find: under "Overview" in the menu.

Accounts reached - This is the total number of distinct accounts that have at least once viewed your content. It includes the top countries, top cities, top age ranges, and top genders of the accounts you've reached.

Accounts engaged - This provides a breakdown of each of the unique accounts that have interacted with your content, similar to the one above.

Total followers - You can see how many people follow you here, as well as whether or not you've gained or lost followers over time. This also has a section called "active times" where you can see when your followers are most active, which can help you decide when to post on Instagram.

How to Use Instagram Analytics

Although having data is beneficial, marketing requires data insights. In order to boost Instagram's performance and growth, as with any other channel, it's important to get clear insights. Let's examine the metrics you can use to accomplish that.

Follower growth - Your follower count can be linked to a specific campaign or timeframe, so this insight is important. Therefore, if you notice a significant increase in followers, examine the content that was posted during that time. Was it a video or a reel about a specific subject? Your audience's (and your audience's) needs can be better understood if you know what attracted new followers.

Audience demographics - What do you see when you look at your followers? You can get information about their age, gender, and location using Instagram analytics. This will let you know who is interested in your content and whether or not that persona matches your buyer personas. Why not, if not? Is there activity in an unexpected city that you can now tap into, or is a new audience emerging that you weren't aware of? You'll also be able to post content at specific times thanks to this. Consider posting at times when your followers are awake and engaged, for instance.

Engagement rate - An important insight to have is your reach and followers' engagement rate. This will assist you in establishing a standard against which to measure and drive growth, as well as in evaluating how well your posts and account perform.

Engagement rate by followers -  likes + followers/number of followers x 100

Engagement rate by reach - likes + comments/reach x 100

Feed & Stories posts - There is a lot of information available when you tap on individual Instagram posts. You can see interactions, discoveries, and impressions in addition to likes, comments, and saves. Reach - You can look at accounts reached and followers Impressions - This shows impressions from hashtags, home, profile, and other places By analyzing the data for individual posts in your feed, you can determine what content is working and what people are responding to. Interactions - This shows profile visits and website clicks It also shows you what hashtags people are looking for and what content gets people to your website or landing page. Interactions or profile visits, impressions, follows, replies, and navigation are all visible in Instagram Stories. The last measurement is fascinating as it shows where individuals continue on toward the following story or left your substance. Instead of guessing, you can use these insights to direct your Instagram content strategy in the right direction and spend more time creating valuable content for your followers.
